IPB opens first

BOGOR: To support the development of natural resources in the
\ncountry, the Bogor Agricultural Institute will hold the country's
\nfirst research workshop on crickets.<\/p>\n
"We are supporting the development of crickets as a commodity
\nby working together with more than 50,000 cricket breeders
\nthrough their association," said the director of the IPB's Human
\nResources Center, Illah Sailah, on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The IPB signed a memorandum of understanding with the
\nbreeders' association last week.<\/p>\n
Illah said the IPB would help the farmers with the development
\nof human resources and technology, while the association would
\nhelp enlarge the market for the insects.<\/p>\n
He said that crickets, which are common in Indonesia, had long
\nbeen used as ingredients in the pharmaceutical and cosmetics
\nindustries, as well as in traditional medicine. --Antara<\/p>\n

JAKARTA: A student at a private university in Jakarta has been
\narrested for stealing on a number of occasions from a neighbor's
\nhouse in Pulo Gebang Permai, Cakung, East Jakarta.<\/p>\n
Arnold Tisoalu, 26, stole two cellular phones, a wrist watch
\nand a camera, all of which he sold. He claimed that he had used
\nthe proceeds to pay for his university fees.<\/p>\n
The student stole the items on Saturday and Sunday. He was
\narrested late on Sunday evening.<\/p>\n
Arnold is now being held by the Cakung Police in East Jakarta.
