        "content": "<p>Investors urged to support RI development<\/p>\n<p>CILEGON, West Java (JP): President Soeharto has urged foreign<br>\ninvestors to support Indonesia's policies in national development<br>\nwhile they are doing businesses in Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>\"We do indeed open our door for foreign investments but we<br>\nexpect them to nurture Indonesia's spirit, orientation and<br>\ndestination in its development,\" Soeharto said at the inaugural<br>\nceremony of the country's first olefin plant in Cilegon, West<br>\nJava, yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The olefin plant, established with an investment of US$1.9<br>\nbillion by PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Center, a foreign<br>\ninvestment company, has been designed to produce ethylene,<br>\npropylene, polyethylene and pyrolysis gasoline -- basic chemical<br>\nmaterials for the production of plastics and textile fibers.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday's ceremony was attended by First Lady Tien Soeharto,<br>\nMinister of Industry Tunky Ariwibowo, Minister\/State Secretary<br>\nMoerdiono, Minister of Investment\/Chairman of Investment Planning<br>\nBoard Sanyoto Sastrowardoyo, the company's president, Prajogo<br>\nPangestu, and chief commissioner Bambang Trihatmodjo.<\/p>\n<p>Soeharto said that it is common for every country in the world<br>\nto welcome foreign investors willing to do business in their<br>\ncountry, but they are supposed to understand and support the<br>\nnation's spirit and idealism.<\/p>\n<p>Talking about Indonesia's industrialization process, Soeharto<br>\nsaid that it must be intensified, expanded and continued further,<br>\nby improving the quality of human resources, capitalizing, to the<br>\nmaximum, natural resources, which are at the country' disposal,<br>\nand raising technological skills.<\/p>\n<p>\"For this purpose, our industry must have a deeper, stronger<br>\nfoundation and a higher technological content, in order to<br>\nproduce goods with greater value-added and that have a strong<br>\ncompetitive edge,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>When talking about cooperation among small, medium and large<br>\nscale enterprises, Soeharto said that all national economic<br>\nplayers must behave with mutual understanding and in cooperation,<br>\nto develop prosperity for all.<\/p>\n<p>\"Together, large, medium and small companies should become a<br>\nchain that gains strength, support and benefit from each other,\"<br>\nsaid Soeharto.<\/p>\n<p>After the ceremony, the President and his entourage signed the<br>\nfirst bag of polyethylene produced by Chandra Asri.
