Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Investment and Downstreaming Minister, also\nhead of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Rosan P Roeslani has\nspoken out regarding thuggery practices occurring at the Chinese\nelectric vehicle manufacturer BYD\u2019s factory project in the Subang\nIndustrial Zone.<\/p>\n
Rosan stated that he had received reports about the disruptive\nactions by mass organisations (Ormas). His office immediately\ncoordinated with the National Police Chief and local government\nauthorities to ensure such incidents do not recur.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis has a negative impact on incoming investment. So we are truly\nmonitoring the situation directly,\u201d Rosan explained during a press\nconference on Tuesday (29\/4\/2025).<\/p>\n
Rosan affirmed that the government had ordered all reports to be\nfiled and coordinated directly with the National Police Chief,\nProvincial Police Chief, District Police Chief, and Sub-district Police\nChief.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis must not happen again,\u201d Rosan stressed.<\/p>\n
The BYD factory investment in Subang amounts to tens of trillions of\nrupiah, valued at US$1 billion. BYD Motor Indonesia President Director\nEagle Zhao revealed that factory construction would be completed within\nthe next year.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery stage of our factory construction is progressing smoothly and\non schedule. We remain committed to completing construction by the end\nof 2025,\u201d Zhao said during a BYD media gathering earlier last year.<\/p>\n
The factory under construction is located in the Subang industrial\nzone, West Java. Its production capacity will reach 150,000 electric\nvehicle (EV) units per year. The company intends to make Indonesia a\nfocus for the export market.<\/p>\n
