        "content": "<p>The Ministry of Environment\/Bureau of Environmental Control\n(KLH\/BPLH) has stated that the investigation into the cause of the fire\nat the Jatiwaringin Final Disposal Site (TPA) in Mauk, Tangerang\nRegency, Banten, will be conducted after the extinguishing optimisation\nis complete. Deputy for Environmental Law Enforcement at the Ministry of\nEnvironment, Police Inspector General Rizal Irawan, said the current\npriority is extinguishing the fire and preventing the spread of smoke\nfrom the landfill fire. \u201cAs I said yesterday, our focus now is on\nextinguishing and preventing the spread. It is impossible for us to\nprocess the crime scene here to look for the cause (of the fire),\u201d Rizal\nsaid in Tangerang on Sunday. He stressed that investigative steps and\ndisclosure for law enforcement will only be taken after the entire\nextinguishing process at the Jatiwaringin TPA is declared completely\nfinished. \u201cWe will look at law enforcement efforts after the process is\ncomplete. Then we will deploy the team here again,\u201d he said. Rizal\nrevealed that the Jatiwaringin TPA received administrative sanctions\nfrom the KLH in 2025 related to poor management. In addition to imposing\nsanctions, the ministry instructed the regional government as the\nmanager to implement a controlled landfill system. \u201cFrom last year to\nnow, the efforts made by the district government have been to implement\na controlled landfill. It turns out that over a year, they have only\nmanaged to succeed on five or six hectares. We can understand that from\na total land area of 33 hectares, it is certainly impossible in one\nyear,\u201d said Rizal. He noted that the hotspots that triggered the massive\nfire at the TPA were located outside the controlled landfill handling\nzone. \u201cSo, what burned was in the area outside the controlled landfill,\u201d\nRizal explained. He added that the Ministry of Environment is currently\nscheduling a major evaluation of 390 landfills across Indonesia, which\nwill begin in early August 2026. \u201cThat evaluation will be on 1 August.\nSo all, around 390 TPA, will be evaluated. Previously, Deputy Minister of Environment\nDiaz Faisal Malik Hendropriyono stated that the firefighting operation\nat the Jatiwaringin TPA was being carried out through a joint operation\ninvolving personnel from various agencies. Thermal drones equipped with\ninfrared cameras have been deployed to detect heat sources and analyse\nthe origin of the fire. \u201cWe can only conduct monitoring analysis via\ndrones periodically,\u201d he said. Furthermore, two mobile monitoring\nsystems have been deployed to monitor air quality at the fire location,\nmeasuring substances such as SO_2 (sulphur dioxide), NO_2 (nitrogen\ndioxide), and PM 1.0 and PM 2.5. \u201cThe good quality standard is 15.5,\nmoderate is from 15.5 to 55.5, and after that it is unhealthy and\nhazardous.
