        "content": "<p>The controversy surrounding an edited video clip of a sermon by\nIndonesia\u2019s 10th and 12th Vice President, Jusuf Kalla (JK), has entered\na new phase. Dozens of Islamic mass organisations (ormas) under the\nAlliance of Islamic Mass Organisations for Religious Harmony have\nofficially reported several figures to the National Police\u2019s Criminal\nInvestigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri). The three names reported are Ade\nArmando, Permadi Arya, and Grace Natalie. The report has been registered\nunder number LP\/B\/185\/V\/2026\/SPKT\/BARESKRIM POLRI, dated 4 May 2026.\nRepresentative of the complainants from LBH Syarikat Islam\/SEMMI, Gurun\nArisastra, emphasised that this legal action was taken after they\nassessed the existence of narratives deemed to mislead the public. \u201cI,\nGurun Ari Sastra, am one of the complainants in this matter, from the\nLegal Aid Institute of the Indonesian Muslim Students\u2019 Union and the\nLegal Aid Institute of Syarikat Islam, along with LBH Muhammadiyah,\nHidayatullah, AFKN, and other organisations, have reported three\nfigures: Ade Armando, then Permadi Arya, and also Grace Natalie,\u201d he\ntold reporters, quoted on Tuesday, 5 May 2026. According to him, the\nissue stems from the circulation of JK\u2019s sermon video shown only in\npart, thus sparking perceptions deemed incomplete in society. \u201cIn which\nthey framed that Mr JK in his sermon video was accused regarding the\ndiscussion of Christian religious teachings related to martyrdom,\u201d he\nsaid. However, Gurun continued, in the full version of the sermon, there\nis no such discussion as perceived. He stated that the actual context\nrelates to concerns about how society understands a particular teaching.\nSimilar scrutiny was also voiced by the Secretary General of KAHMI,\nSyamsul Qomar. He assessed that the substance of Jusuf Kalla\u2019s sermon\nactually carries a message of peace, not the opposite. \u201cWhereas the\nsubstance of the sermon when he delivered it to the people of Maluku and\nPoso during that conflict brought peace,\u201d Syamsul said. He even believes\nthe filed report has a strong basis and could lead to legal consequences\nfor the reported parties. \u201cBut then by Ade Armando and his associates,\nthat peace-bringing statement was framed in such a way that it could\nbecome a new dispute. That is what we do not want, and therefore with\nvery strong evidence, we are convinced that those three people will go\nto prison,\u201d he stated.<\/p>",
