        "content": "<p>The West Jakarta Food Security, Marine and Agriculture Sub-agency\n(Sudin KPKP) has handed over a catch of suckermouth catfish to the\nrelevant Jakarta agency to be used as maggot feed and for research\npurposes. The operation was carried out in the Banjir Kanal Barat river\nin Palmerah.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe catch was handed over to the DKI Jakarta PPKUKM Agency for use\nas maggot feed and research material,\u201d said West Jakarta Sudin KPKP Head\nBetty Rahmawati on Friday. She stated the operation is a follow-up to\nthe directive of Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung to control the\npopulation of suckermouth catfish in the capital\u2019s waterways. This\nparticular activity was the 12th operation in West Jakarta and involved\n18 joint personnel supported by a rubber boat from the DKI Jakarta\nEnvironmental Agency.<\/p>\n<p>Suckermouth catfish are considered an invasive species that threatens\nlocal fish populations and damages river infrastructure by burrowing\ninto embankments. Authorities have also warned the public against\nconsuming the fish, as they can contain harmful bacteria such as E. coli\nand Salmonella, as well as heavy metals like lead.<\/p>",
