The Attorney General\u2019s Office (Kejagung) has not yet considered the\noption of trying businessman Mohammad Riza Chalid in absentia, even\nthough Interpol has issued a red notice against the fugitive in the\ncorruption case.<\/p>\n
The Prosecutor\u2019s Corps stated that it is still working to hunt down\nand repatriate Riza Chalid to undergo legal proceedings in Indonesia.\nThis was revealed by the Director of Prosecution at the Deputy Attorney\nGeneral for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) of the Attorney General\u2019s Office,\nArdito Muwardi.<\/p>\n
It is known that Riza Chalid has been named a suspect in two major\ncorruption cases, namely the alleged corruption case in the procurement\nof crude oil at Pertamina Energy Trading Limited (Petral) for the period\n2008-2015 and the corruption case in the management of crude oil and\nrefinery products at Pertamina-KKKS.<\/p>\n
\u201cStill, this is still ongoing, we are still trying (to repatriate\nRiza Chalid),\u201d he said, quoted on Sunday, May 17, 2026.<\/p>\n
Ardito explained that the opportunity to capture Riza Chalid is now\neven wider after the red notice was officially issued by Interpol, which\nis based in Lyon, France.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Red Notice has been issued,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
However, the Attorney General\u2019s Office does not want to rush into\ntaking steps for a trial without the defendant present or in absentia\nagainst Riza Chalid. According to Ardito, investigators are still\nfocused on pursuing the suspect who is now an international\nfugitive.<\/p>\n
\u201cNot yet, we are still studying (the case). We are still trying to\nbring him in,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
For information, an in absentia trial is a trial that continues\nwithout the defendant being present in the courtroom.<\/p>\n
Previously reported, the Attorney General\u2019s Office (Kejagung)\nuncovered the role of oil businessman Riza Chalid who has now been\nre-established as a suspect in the alleged corruption case in the\nprocurement of crude oil at Pertamina Energy Trading Limited (Petral)\nfor the period 2008-2015.<\/p>\n
