        "content": "<p>Moscow \u2014 The International Maritime Organisation (IMO) has\nrecommended that vessels avoid the Strait of Hormuz and has urged\nshipping companies to exercise extreme caution in the region, according\nto IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez on Sunday, 1 March.<\/p>\n<p>Dominguez stated that vessels should avoid transiting the region if\npossible until conditions improve.<\/p>\n<p>He also expressed concern over reports of casualties among commercial\nseafarers and called on all parties to respect the principles of freedom\nof navigation.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, 28 February, the United States and Israel launched a\nseries of attacks against targets in Iran, including in Tehran, with\nreports of damage and civilian casualties.<\/p>\n<p>Iranian state television also confirmed the death of Iran\u2019s Supreme\nLeader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.<\/p>\n<p>Iran responded to the US-Israeli attacks by launching missiles at\nseveral regions of Israel and American military facilities in the Middle\nEast as a defensive measure.<\/p>",
