        "content": "<p>InterContinental to boost China unit<\/p>\n<p>SHANGHAI: InterContinental Hotels Group, the world's second<br>\nlargest hotel operator, plans to increase its presence in China<br>\ntwo-fold over the next three years, the Shanghai Daily reported<br>\nFriday.<\/p>\n<p>The newspaper quoted David Travers, general manager of the<br>\nInterContinental Pudong Shanghai, as saying that the company<br>\nwants to expand its portfolio on the mainland in the next three<br>\nyears to 80 hotels from the current 41.<\/p>\n<p>InterContinental owns several brands including<br>\nInterContinental, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn.<\/p>\n<p>Travers said the company will open two new Intercontinental<br>\nhotels in Shanghai in the next two years and also open its first<br>\nHoliday Inn in Hohhot, the capital city of Inner Mongolia.<\/p>\n<p>\"We see great potential in the country's mid-level market,\"<br>\nTravers said. \"That is why we will devote so much effort to<br>\nestablish Holiday Inn hotels in China's secondary cities in the<br>\nnear future.\" -- AFP<\/p>",
