Intelligence academies<\/p>\n
The government has announced it will shortly set up two
\nintelligence academies, one in Bogor, West Java, and the other in
\nBatam, Riau, apparently to meet an urgent demand for more
\neffective intelligence gathering. Failure to get timely
\ninformation of troop movements or the weaponry of the enemy could
\nlead to disastrous consequences, as we have witnessed during the
\nU.S.-Iraqi campaign.<\/p>\n
Some have blamed the recent bomb blast at the Indonesian
\nlegislature on the failure of the secret service to detect any
\nsuspicious movements by the perpetrators, who could have slipped
\nbetween metal detectors and planted their bomb unnoticed.<\/p>\n
From the Aceh campaign at restoring the authority of the
\nUnitary Republic of Indonesia, both parties are engaged in
\ninformation gathering activities involving the intelligence
\nservices. The Army has for some time been at a loss to locate the
\nkidnapped Indonesian journalist from RCTI television station, a
\nfact that somehow has hampered the security operations.<\/p>\n
Intelligence missions are superhumanly difficult as they must
\nbe kept secret all the time until the missions are completed.
\nThose chosen to enter the intelligence academies must be citizens
\nendowed with superhuman qualities, who possess special talents
\nand courage more than ordinary people and are gifted with
\nintuition in times of crisis.<\/p>\n
It may be safe to say that intelligence agents must be born
\nrather than made at a training center. Apart from the pure
\nmilitary training, those selected to enter these "spy schools"
\nmust have the capacity to master many international languages
\nsuch as English, French, Spanish, Arabic and some local dialects.<\/p>\n
The bankruptcy shadow which has fallen over the ambitious PT
\nDirgantara Indonesia aircraft manufacturing plant in Bandung, can
\nbe attributed to the failure of long-term business intelligence
\ngathering by those responsible for projects.<\/p>\n
The soon to be opened intelligence gathering institutions will
\nbe coordinated by the present State Intelligence Body chief, Army
\nGen. Hendroprijono.<\/p>\n
I am sure that he will have a lot of secret intelligence
\nweapons to teach the new generation of Indonesian spies. I wish
\nHendroprijono and the new generation of intelligence agents all
