Deputy Law Minister Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej (Eddy Hiariej) has\nsaid that building integrated data is an important foundation for\nstrengthening inter-ministerial collaboration in developing the\nintellectual property ecosystem through the KI-Match digital\nplatform.<\/p>\n
According to Eddy, intellectual property development requires\nconnectivity between universities, government, the business world and\nother stakeholders, including ministries handling MSMEs, the creative\neconomy, trade, as well as higher education, science and technology.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are currently building integrated data. This means that with\nintegrated data, it can later be used for collaboration between one\nministry and another,\u201d Eddy said during a talk show on optimising the\nrole of Intellectual Property Centres through the KI-Match digital\nplatform, organised by the Jakarta Regional Office of the Ministry of\nLaw, in Jakarta on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
He said the data integration is needed so that intellectual property\ndevelopment can proceed in a more coordinated manner and be connected to\nthe needs of the economic ecosystem.<\/p>\n
According to him, cross-sector collaboration is an important part of\ndeveloping KI-Match as a platform that connects intellectual property\npotential with the business world.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause in developing the IP ecosystem, we need collaboration\nbetween universities, government, the business world and other\nstakeholders,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Regarding the effectiveness of digital platforms in reducing barriers\nto intellectual property services, Eddy said the application of\ntechnology needs to be measured through a number of parameters,\nincluding the ability to cut bureaucratic chains so that service\nprocesses can take place more quickly.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe bureaucratic chain can be cut. That means it can be faster,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
In addition to accelerating services, according to Eddy,\ndigitalisation also has an important function in strengthening\ntransparency and accountability in the management of intellectual\nproperty services. Both aspects are an important part of implementing\ngood governance.<\/p>\n
\u201cInformation technology is one of the parameters towards good\ngovernance. Because with everything being digital, anyone can monitor it\nand it will be open,\u201d Eddy said.<\/p>\n
Through strengthening integrated data and digitalising services, the\nMinistry of Law is working to build an intellectual property ecosystem\nthat not only facilitates services but also increases the connection\nbetween innovation, legal protection and economic utilisation.<\/p>\n
At the event, the Jakarta Regional Office of the Ministry of Law\nsought to strengthen the role of Intellectual Property Centres at\nuniversities so that innovation and creative works can be protected\nwhile also providing economic impact through collaboration with the\nbusiness world, industry and MSMEs.<\/p>\n
This effort is being carried out through the development of the\nKI-Match digital platform, which connects innovations from IP Centres\nwith the needs of businesses, industry and MSMEs.
