        "content": "<p>Insurer to buy more stocks<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Astra Jardine CMG Life, a joint insurance<br>\nventure, plans to increase its investments in stocks after the<br>\nimprovement of Indonesia&apos;s capital market, Peter J. Smedley,<br>\nchief executive officer of CMG of Australia, said yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>He told reporters here that Astra Jardine CMG will increase<br>\nthe portion of its investment in stocks from 20 percent at<br>\npresent to 50 percent, while reducing its investment in fixed-<br>\nrate instruments from 80 percent to 50 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Astra Jardine CMG is 50 percent owned by Astra International<br>\nof Indonesia and 50 percent by the Hong Kong-based Jardine-CMG, a<br>\njoint venture between Jardine of Hong Kong and Colonial Mutual<br>\nGroup (CMG).<\/p>\n<p>Smedley said that through a recent campaign to commemorate the<br>\nIndonesian golden anniversary, the company issued more than 1,400<br>\nnew policies to generate Rp 3 billion (US$13.1 million) in<br>\npremiums.<\/p>\n<p>The president of the company, Rob Phillips, said the firm<br>\nrecorded total assets of over Rp 17 billion as of last year.(kod)<\/p>",
