The Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development
(Kemenko Infra) has set a target that by 1 January 2027, there will be
no more over-dimension and over-load (ODOL) trucks or vehicles on toll
roads.

Nazib Faizal, Deputy for Basic Infrastructure Coordination at Kemenko
Infra, expressed hope that by 2027, roads across Indonesia could be free
from ODOL trucks. “We target that, at the very latest, by 1 January
2027, there will be no more ODOL on toll roads,” Nazib stated during the
Indonesia International Sustainable Forum in Jakarta on Wednesday.

According to his data, one in four trucks violates regulations
regarding weight and dimensions. He noted that for those frequently
using the Cikampek Toll Road, it is safer to stop if feeling drowsy, as
data shows approximately three accidents occur daily on that route, with
broken axles being the most frequent cause due to overloaded trucks.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) reported that
the integration of data regarding freight and logistics, as part of the
preparations for the Zero ODOL implementation in January 2027, has
reached 98 per cent. Director General of Land Transportation, Aan
Suhanan, stated that the government is executing several steps in
accordance with the Zero ODOL action plan, ranging from data integration
and digitalised supervision to law enforcement and regulatory
preparation. He emphasised that the Ministry of Transportation remains
committed to the January 2027 implementation timeline.

In addition to data integration, the Ministry of Transportation has
conducted trials for digitalised supervision and law enforcement for
freight vehicles. Meanwhile, the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT)
under the Ministry of Public Works (PU) is prepared to install 10
additional Weigh-in-Motion (WIM) systems on toll roads to support the
monitoring and enforcement of ODOL vehicles.

Head of BPJT, Ni Komang Rasminiati, stated that the Ministry of
Public Works supports enforcement against ODOL vehicles in coordination
with the Ministry of Transportation and the National Police. She added
that the WIM systems will be integrated with the Police’s Electronic
Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) and the Ministry of Transportation’s
Electronic Test Pass Certificate (BLUe), ensuring that enforcement
against ODOL vehicles is both effective and efficient.
",
