Info tech exibition on for 1997<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): An exhibition featuring information technology
\nsolutions for banking, finance, offices, manufacturing,
\ntelecommunications, retail, transportation, publishing and
\nlogistics will be held at the Jakarta Convention Center next
\nyear.<\/p>\n
Herman Wiriadipoera, the general manager of PT Napindo
\nMediapratama, the exhibition's organizer, said recently he
\nexpected that Minister of Industry and Trade Tunky Ariwibowo and
\nMinister of Tourism, Post and Telecommunications Joop Ave would
\nopen the four-day exhibition, Networks Indonesia 97, on July 31,
\n1997.<\/p>\n
Herman said the Internet and Intranet would be featured at the
\nshow, to be co-organized with the Indonesian Computer Society,
\nthe Indonesian Association of National Informatics Enterprises,
\nthe Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Bandung
\nInstitute of Technology.<\/p>\n
The computer society's chairman, Safwan Natanagara, said a
\nconference would be held to coincide with the exhibition,
\nfeaturing chief executives in networking industries.<\/p>\n
Exhibition consultant Charles Chong said some overseas experts
\nwould be invited to present their papers on information
\ntechnology professional standards and multimedia data
\ncommunications at the conference.<\/p>\n
He said Indonesia's expenditure on information technology grew
\n29 percent to US$895 million in 1995 from $693 million in 1994.
\nTwo thirds of the expenditure was on hardware and one-third was
