This\nsituation has strengthened expectations that central banks will maintain\ntight monetary policies for a longer period.<\/p>\n<p>According to Reuters, spot gold prices dropped by 1 per cent to\n$4,489.34 per ounce, after having reached a two-week high last Friday.\nMeanwhile, US gold futures slid 1.9 per cent to $4,506.30 per ounce.<\/p>\n<p>The strengthening US dollar has also pressured precious metal prices,\nmaking gold more expensive for holders of other currencies, thereby\nreducing investor interest in the yellow metal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe expectation that interest rates will remain high for longer is\nlikely to continue pressuring gold, unless bond yields stop rising and\ninterest rates begin to stabilise or move lower,\u201d said Wyckoff.<\/p>\n<p>Geopolitical tensions have risen again after Iran stated it had\nattacked a US military base in response to Washington\u2019s strikes on\nIranian military targets last weekend. Nevertheless, US President Donald\nTrump stated that talks with Iran are still progressing rapidly.<\/p>\n<p>Simultaneously, global oil prices have strengthened, triggering fresh\nconcerns regarding inflation.<\/p>",
