Inebriated Korean arrested after crash<\/p>\n
TANGERANG: Tangerang Police arrested a Korean national late on
\nTuesday after he was involved in a fatal traffic accident on Jl.
\nBulevard in Lippo Karawaci, Tangerang, in which one motorcyclist
\nwas killed and another seriously injured.<\/p>\n
Tangerang Police traffic chief Insp. Syamsu said on Wednesday
\nthat the Korean, identified as Jeang Sang Kuk, 25, was allegedly
\ndrunk while driving his car. He lost control and hit a motorcycle
\nridden by Aman and Wahyu Hidayat, residents of Curug district,
\nTangerang regency.<\/p>\n
Wahyu died instantly at the scene while Aman is currently in
\ncritical condition at the hospital.<\/p>\n
Jeang then fled the scene by entering the toll road heading to
\nCikupa but he was too drunk to drive and later hit a bus. He
\nstill managed to exit at the Cikupa toll gate, only to be
\narrested by an officer from the Curug subprecinct police, Brig.
\nTusino, who witnessed the accident and helped carry both victims
\nto the hospital.<\/p>\n
Tusino, who coincidentally was passing Jl. Cikupa Raya,
\nrecognized Jeang's car and arrested the driver.<\/p>\n
Curug subprecinct police chief I Ketut Sudarsana said that as
\nof Wednesday afternoon the Korean man was still unable to be

DEPOK: The University of Indonesia (UI) received a US$13,000
\ngrant from the Osaka Gas Foundation of International Culture
\nExchange (OGFICE) on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The money will be used to finance four natural gas research
\nprojects run by the university.<\/p>\n
OGFICE, which was established in 1992, donated a total of
\n$39,000 for 12 research projects by the University of Indonesia,
\nthe Bandung Institute of Technology and the Bogor Institute of
\nAgriculture.<\/p>\n
The foundation also donated Rp 200 million (US$23,530) for
\nequipment and Rp 294 million for scholarships for students in
\nEast Kalimantan and Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam.<\/p>\n
UI deputy rector Sutanto Soehodho told The Jakarta Post the
\nuniversity had an annual budget of between Rp 800 million
\n($94,118) and Rp 1 billion to finance research work.<\/p>\n
"But the figure is not enough. Therefore we thank the OGFICE
\nand hope that one day we can finance our research on our own," he

JAKARTA: About 500 people were evacuated from Jakarta's
\nlandmark BNI building on Jl. Sudirman after a bomb threat was
\nreceived at 8:45 a.m on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The Jakarta Police bomb squad declared the threat a hoax two
\nhours later, allowing workers to return to the 50-story building.<\/p>\n
The threat was telephoned in to telephone operator PT Buana
\nBina Mega Sakti, which leases the 32nd floor.<\/p>\n
Last month, the Bank BNI Card Center in the building received
\na similar threat.<\/p>\n
Office worker Deni said that most people did not believe a
\nbomb was planted in the building.<\/p>\n
"We have received many bomb hoaxes but none have actually
\ninvolved real bombs."<\/p>\n
On Tuesday, Wisma Kyoei Prince on Jl. Sudirman was targeted by

TANGERANG: An Army officer from the military command in Pondok
\nAren district and his wife were shot by four unidentified men,
\nsuspected to be motorcycle thieves, in Perigi village, Pondok
\nAren, Tangerang regency, on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n
The officer, Brig. Ngadiono, 46, and his wife Nurhayati, 37,
\nwere riding their motorcycle when suddenly four unidentified men
\non two Yamaha RX King motorcycles shot them.<\/p>\n
Ngadino, who was carrying a gun in his jacket, shot back at
\nthe would-be thieves causing them to flee the scene after they
\nrealized that he too was armed.<\/p>\n
Ngadiono and his wife were rushed to Bintaro International
\nHospital and their injuries were not believed to be life-
\nthreatening.<\/p>\n
Pondok Aren subprecinct police chief Insp. Tanti Septiani said
\non Wednesday that police found four bullet casings at the scene.
\nPolice are still investigating the case but they suspect the four
