Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) believes\nthat both the industry and consumers are still awaiting certainty\nregarding electric vehicle (EV) incentives.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn relation to this, we request that the automotive industry and\nconsumers be provided with certainty immediately,\u201d stated a\nrepresentative when met in Jakarta on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
According to the official, this uncertainty could delay consumer\npurchasing decisions, potentially exerting pressure on the performance\nof the automotive industry.<\/p>\n
\u201cTherefore, we urge policymakers in other ministries and agencies to\nprovide immediate certainty regarding these incentives,\u201d said Febri.<\/p>\n
In response to efforts to boost sales during the second half of the\nyear, Febri emphasised that the Ministry of Industry continues to\ncollaborate with various industry associations to strengthen the\nmarketing of national manufactured products.<\/p>\n
It was previously reported that Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa\nstated the government is preparing incentives for electric vehicles,\ntargeting 100,000 electric cars and 100,000 electric motorcycles this\nyear.<\/p>\n
For electric motorcycles, the government estimates an incentive value\nof Rp5 million per unit. However, the final amount and scheme for this\nassistance will be announced further once discussions with relevant\nministries and agencies are completed.<\/p>\n
He also argued that electric vehicle incentives are being provided to\nreduce fuel imports amidst global oil prices, which are expected to\nremain high in the coming months.<\/p>\n
The electric vehicle incentive programme is one of the government\u2019s\nefforts to accelerate the adoption of environmentally friendly\nvehicles.<\/p>\n
Previously, the Ministry of Industry strengthened the role of small\nand medium industries (IKM) to enter the battery-based electric vehicle\n(KBLBB) supply chain, in order to support the development of the\necosystem in the country.<\/p>\n
The Ministry of Industry emphasised that the development of the\nnational electric vehicle industry does not rely solely on large-scale\nindustrial investment, but must also create wider opportunities for IKM\nplayers as an essential part of the industrial supply chain.<\/p>\n
Based on data from the Association of Indonesia Automotive Industries\n(Gaikindo), sales of battery-based electric cars in the first quarter of\n2026 reached 33,150 units, an increase of 95.9 per cent compared to the\nsame period the previous year.<\/p>\n
