Indriyanto breaks transfer record<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The bizarre aftermath of an ambitious project
\nsending national junior football players to Italy took its toll
\nwhen Indriyanto Nugroho completed a cynical deal which cost his
\nnew club just Rp 100 (5 US cents) on Friday.<\/p>\n
It must be the cheapest transfer ever in the soccer world, but
\nthe Surakarta, Central Java-based club, Arseto, did ask the
\nridiculous price of giant club Pelita Jaya.<\/p>\n
\"We don't want to pose a hurdle to Indriyanto's career. We
\njust want everybody to respect us because we have groomed him
\nsince he was a no-name,\" Arseto manager Halim Perdana said after
\nsigning the deal with Pelita manager Andrie Amien.<\/p>\n
Officials of the All-Indonesia Football Association were
\npresent at the signing.<\/p>\n
Transfer confusion marred Indonesian soccer soon after the
\nItalian stint called Primavera concluded last year, with the
\nnational soccer body hanging up the status of some junior
\nplayers.<\/p>\n
Indriyanto, an obvious victim of the ambiguity, told Bola
\nsports tabloid last week that he never wanted to be a part of
\nArseto. His move to Pelita will earn him Rp 1.5 million a month.<\/p>\n
Halim denied the statement, saying that Arseto, owned by
\nPresident Soeharto's son Sigit Harjojudanto, recruited Indriyanto
\nfrom a small club Fortuna in Sukoharjo, 25 kilometers east of
\nSurakarta, through talent scouting.<\/p>\n
\"But if he insists on playing for Pelita, we will let him go
\nwithout any reserve,\" Halim told Antara.<\/p>\n
Andrie said that he did not think that Arseto intended to mock
\nhim by asking such a very low price. Pelita had previously bought
\nAples Tecuari, Indriyanto's Primavera teammate, from Persipura
\nJayapura in a Rp 15 million deal.<\/p>\n
Dali Taher, transfer manager of the soccer body, said that
\nIndriyanto's transfer, which could have been worth millions
\nrupiah, should not be measured by the price.<\/p>\n
\"Let's just consider the good will of Arseto and Pelita Jaya
