Indri gets Rp 10m from Wismoyo<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia's Sri Indriyani, who retained her
\ntitle at the Junior Weightlifting World Championship in Capetown
\nlast week, received a Rp 10 million (US$4,100) savings account
\nfrom National Sports Council chairman Wismoyo Arismunandar
\nyesterday.<\/p>\n
Indriyani, nicknamed Indri, won three gold medals after
\nsetting records in the snatch with a 75.5 kilogram lift, a 0.5
\nkilogram improvement on her previous best.<\/p>\n
The 18-year-old lifted 97.5 kilograms in the clean and jerk
\nfor a 172.5 kilogram total.<\/p>\n
"I don't expect presents. I'm just expecting more attention
\nand support from Wismoyo so I can do better in the future," Indri
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
"Please don't accept it as a bonus. It is a matter of
\nappreciation for your success on the world scene," Wismoyo said.<\/p>\n
Wismoyo, through his wife, also presented gold bracelets to
\nIndri and Imron Rosadi's wife. Imron is the national coach who
\nprepared Indri for the world championship.<\/p>\n
Indri said after the championship she would prepare for the
\n19th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Jakarta in October.<\/p>\n
"I only won the silver at the last Games in Chiang Mai,
\nThailand. I lost to a Thai lifter and want to better my record in
\nthe coming Games," she said.<\/p>\n
But Indri said she was still in the dark as to who her rivals
\nwould be.<\/p>\n
Imron said the bonus from the council would help motivate
\nIndri.<\/p>\n
"I can't guarantee that Indri can win the gold at the SEA
\nGames because we don't have records from other ASEAN lifters.
\nIt's possible that other country's lifters could lift more," he
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Wismoyo said he was satisfied with Indri's achievements at the
\nchampionship.<\/p>\n
"It's proof that weightlifting has a good chance of being a
\npotential gold medal sport for Indonesia, along with badminton,
\nat the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. I'm very proud of her
\nrecords," he said.<\/p>\n
Another junior lifter Joko Hanggono, accompanied by coach
\nHarry Wibowo, will compete also in Capetown today in the 108
