Indosat's Multimedia forum<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): State-owned international telecommunications
\noperator PT Indosat has represented Indonesia in initiating the
\nestablishment of the Asian Multimedia Forum (AMF) which aims to
\npromote the development of multimedia in the Asia-Pacific region.<\/p>\n
Indosat said yesterday that the initiating body would meet in
\nApril to formulate the planned forum's organizing body,
\nactivities, financing plans and inter-member prototype trials.<\/p>\n
Indosat's director of corporate development, Safwan
\nNatanegara, said that AMF would group three different segments,
\nincluding major members, general members and users.<\/p>\n
The initiating body consists of 13 firms in Asia-Pacific
\nincluding NTT of Japan, PT Telkom and Indosat of Indonesia, Smart
\nCommunication of the Philippines, Mimos of Malaysia, Telecom
\nMalaysia and TOT of Thailand.<\/p>\n
Indosat has invested Rp 50 billion (US$21 million) to set up a
\nnew multimedia company dubbed PT Indosat Mega Media. Indosat has
\nalso participated in PT Menara Jakarta, a private firm which is
\nto develop a 550-meter multimedia tower in Kemayoran, Central
