        "content": "<p>Indosatcom and U.S. firm tie up<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Indosatcom, a division of state-owned PT<br>\nIndosat, signed an agreement on Thursday to form a joint venture<br>\nwith MeetChina.com, a San Francisco e-business portal company<br>\nwith a huge operation in China, to start a portal service for<br>\nlocal small and medium enterprises.<\/p>\n<p>\"The new joint venture company will be in full operation by<br>\nthe end of March 2001,\" said J. Kriswanto, president of PT<br>\nIndosatcom Adimarga, which runs two business portals,<br>\nwww.dagang2000.com and www.ivbd.net.<\/p>\n<p>The joint venture agreement was signed by Kriswanto and<br>\nMeetChina's president Len Cordiner in a ceremony attended by<br>\nsecretary general of the ministry of transportation and<br>\ntelcommunication Anwar Supriyadi and director general for<br>\nmetal, machinery, electronics and multifarious industry Agus<br>\nTjahjana.<\/p>\n<p>MeetChina.com, which boasts the largest business-to-business<br>\ne-market site in China, is expanding its operations in Asia,<br>\nincluding Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>The new joint venture, to be capitalized at between US$1<br>\nmillion and $2 million, is expected to link some 3,000 Indonesian<br>\nsmall and medium companies to MeetChina.com's Internet portals.<\/p>\n<p>It will have a complete range of facilities for exporters,<br>\nincluding online stores, negotiations, insurance and trade<br>\nfinancing, according to a statement by Indosatcom.
