        "content": "<p>Indosat ties up with Mega Asia<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: Telecommunications firm Indosat signed on Wednesday a <br>\npreliminary agreement with Mega Asia Consortium for the <br>\ndevelopment of a fixed wireless network in Jakarta and Surabaya <br>\nover the next three years.<\/p>\n<p>Under the preliminary agreement, the consortium will develop <br>\n450,000 fixed wireless lines in Jakarta and surrounding areas and <br>\nanother 250,000 lines in Surabaya and surrounding areas during <br>\nthe three-year period, Indosat said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The consortium comprises Bakrie Communication Company, Tomen <br>\nCorporation, PT Asiabumi Piramida and PT Saranainsan Muda <br>\nSelaras.<\/p>\n<p>The consortium will secure its own finances to build the <br>\nnetwork based on Indosat's license.<\/p>\n<p>It will operate the network for about 10 years, with the <br>\nrevenue to be shared with Indosat. After 10 years of operation, <br>\nthe consortium will transfer the network to Indosat.<\/p>\n<p>\"The revenue-sharing contract period could be longer or <br>\nshorter, depending on the return on the project's investment,\" <br>\nIndosat said.<\/p>\n<p>The project will use CDMA 2000-1X technology.
