Indosat offers discounts<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): PT Indosat, the state-owned international
\ntelecommunications operator, will offer discounts on calls made
\non Aug. 12 through Aug. 19 in connection with Indonesia's golden
\nanniversary which falls on Aug. 17.<\/p>\n
A company spokesman, Venny Zano, said yesterday that during
\nthe period, Indosat will offer a discount of 10 percent for calls
\nmade during business hours and 25 percent for non-peak hour
\ncalls.<\/p>\n
Indosat currently offers a 25 percent discount for calls made
\non Sundays and between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. on weekdays to the Asia-
\nPacific and Oceania regions and at between midnight and 7 a.m. to
\nAfrica, the United States and Europe.<\/p>\n
Venny also said that starting on Aug. 1 to Oct. 31, Indosat
\nwill donate Rp 50 from each international call using the 001 code
\nto under-developed villages to support their development
\nprograms. \"We expect to collect some Rp 800 million (US$356,824)
\nfrom such a service in the period,\" he said.<\/p>\n
There are two international telecommunications operators in
\nIndonesia, Indosat and PT Satelindo which applies the 008 code.
