        "content": "<p>Indorayon reiterates business strategy<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): PT Inti Indorayon Utama announced yesterday the<br>\ntrial production of dissolving up, the main raw material for<br>\nrayon fiber, at its industrial complex at Porsea, North Sumatra.<\/p>\n<p>\"The establishment of the dissolving pulp mill is part of our<br>\nbusiness development strategy which focuses on three core<br>\nbusinesses -- specialty pulp, rayon fiber and related chemical<br>\nproducts,\" noted Indorayon's Corporate Secretary P. Daritan.<\/p>\n<p>Daritan said the new facility enabling Indorayon to produce<br>\nthe material makes the company, which is listed on the Jakarta<br>\nStock Exchange, the first integrated manufacturer of dissolving<br>\npulp and rayon fiber in the country.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the dissolving pulp mill, designed with a<br>\ncapacity of 180,000 tons a year, will supply the company's rayon<br>\nfiber plant also at Porsea which will be expanded to an annual<br>\ncapacity of 100,000 tons from 60,000 tons at present.<\/p>\n<p>The dissolving pulp mill derives its wood input from timber<br>\nestates developed in previously logged timber concessions in the<br>\nareas surrounding the Indorayon industrial complex.<\/p>\n<p>Daritan said Indorayon, a unit of the North Sumatra-based Raja<br>\nGaruda Mas Group, will further strengthen its chemical production<br>\nbusiness by acquiring additional chemical facilities.<\/p>\n<p>\"We will sell our 80-megawatt power generation plant at Porsea<br>\nto another subsidiary of the Raja Garuda Mas Group as part of our<br>\nbusiness strategy,\" he said, adding that the transaction will be<br>\nsubject to shareholders' approval.<\/p>\n<p>Daritan saw the strategy as crucial for improving the<br>\nefficiency and strengthening the competitiveness of Indorayon in<br>\nfacing global market competition.<\/p>\n<p>Peregrine securities company concluded in a credit research<br>\nreview last month that Indorayon is one of the lowest-cost<br>\nproducer of pulp and rayon fiber in the world.
