Indorayon inaccuracy<\/p>\n
The article RI companies lax in preventing accidents at work,
\nwhich appeared in The Jakarta Post on Dec. 13, 1995, incorrectly
\nranked Indorayon as one of the nine companies with the most
\nworkplace accidents in 1995.<\/p>\n
In fact, the event described in the article occurred on Nov.
\n5, 1993 -- more than two years ago -- and it caused neither death
\nnor injury. Indorayon should not be included in this kind of
\nlist, this year or in any other year.<\/p>\n
On the general matter of workplace safety, we abide by the
\n1972 Law on Health and Occupation and have never been cited by
\nthe government for any infractions. We are proud to report that
\nnone of our employees has ever died from a work-related injury at
\nour pulp or rayon mills. (The article also incorrectly referred
\nto the company's \"pulp and paper\" mill; Indorayon does not have a
\npaper mill).<\/p>\n
We have brought this matter to the attention of the Director
\nGeneral, whose remarks were used as the basis for the article.
\nNevertheless, we are disappointed that The Jakarta Post did not
\ncontact Indorayon for clarification. The Jakarta Post reported
\nthe original accident back in 1993 and could have double checked
\nthis information easily.<\/p>\n
