Bobby ordered comprehensive and firm evacuation measures,\nparticularly in red zones, to prepare for a possible increase in\nSinabung\u2019s volcanic activity.<\/p>\n
The Geological Agency\u2019s Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation\nCenter (PVMBG) recommended a three-kilometer danger radius and a\nsix-kilometer sectoral zone southeast of Sinabung.<\/p>\n
\u201cIntensify outreach to residents in danger zones. If activity\nincreases, issue firm evacuation orders, even if necessary, for their\nsafety,\u201d Bobby said.<\/p>\n
Bobby also ordered authorities to quickly maximize support facilities\nat evacuation centers.<\/p>\n
The North Sumatra provincial government will provide logistics,\nevacuation equipment, and operational support for personnel responding\nto Sinabung\u2019s eruption.<\/p>\n
\u201cDo not provide inadequate facilities. Use the budget properly and\nensure evacuation centers are decent and comfortable,\u201d Bobby said.<\/p>\n
Armen Putra, head of the Sinabung Volcano Observation Post, said\nvisual and seismic monitoring indicated that magma was moving toward the\nsurface, potentially destabilizing an older lava dome.<\/p>\n
\u201cA hotspot was detected last night, indicating lava had reached the\nsurface. Rising internal pressure could break the old lava dome and\ntrigger a major eruption,\u201d Armen said.<\/p>\n
Karo District Head Antonius Ginting said the danger zone had expanded\nto six kilometers, with evacuations focused on Kuta Tengah Village\nbecause it is surrounded by red zones.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe plan to evacuate 140 families, or about 684 people, from Kuta\nTengah. More than 260 people had been moved to shelters by Tuesday\nafternoon,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
To assist residents who still work in their fields during the day,\nthe Karo administration, military, and police deployed shuttle vehicles\nto support evacuations.<\/p>\n
Authorities also prepared vehicles and personnel to evacuate\nresidents of Payung Village, outside the main evacuation zone, if\nSinabung\u2019s activity intensifies.<\/p>\n
The local government, military, police, and volunteers deployed 843\npersonnel under the command of the Karo Military District Command 0205\nand Karo Police.<\/p>\n
Other measures included suspending classes at several schools within\nthe six-kilometer affected zone, including Guru Kinayan Elementary\nSchool, Payung Elementary School, Ndeskati Elementary School, and Atap\nPayung 1 Junior High School.<\/p>\n
