        "content": "<p>Indonesia\u2019s Government Debt Nears Rp 10,000 Trillion<\/p>\n<p>Jakarta. Indonesia\u2019s government debt approached Rp 10,000 trillion in\nthe first quarter of 2026, with the vast majority financed through state\nsecurities issuance, according to Finance Ministry data.<\/p>\n<p>Total government debt stood at Rp 9,920.42 trillion ($571 billion) as\nof March 31, 2026, the Finance Ministry said in a statement on\nFriday.<\/p>\n<p>Of that amount, Rp 8,652.89 trillion \u2013 or 87.22% of total debt \u2013\nconsisted of state securities, while direct loans accounted for the\nremaining Rp 1,267.52 trillion.<\/p>\n<p>The figures underscore Indonesia\u2019s heavy reliance on domestic\nfinancial market instruments, particularly government bonds, to finance\nstate spending.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the increase in nominal debt, the government said the\ndebt-to-gross domestic product (GDP) ratio remained at a manageable\n40.75%, well below the legal ceiling of 60% set under Indonesia\u2019s State\nFinance Law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe government manages debt carefully and prudently in order to\nachieve an optimal debt portfolio while supporting the development of\ndomestic financial markets,\u201d the ministry\u2019s Directorate General of\nFinancing and Risk Management said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities also stressed that debt management continues to follow\nprudent fiscal principles aimed at preserving macroeconomic\nstability.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond financing the state budget deficit, the issuance of government\nsecurities is intended to deepen Indonesia\u2019s financial markets and\nprovide safe investment alternatives for domestic investors, the\nministry added.<\/p>\n<p>Tags: Keywords:<\/p>",
