        "content": "<p>Jakarta \u2014 Indonesia\u2019s Foreign Ministry has reaffirmed that the\nappropriation of Palestinian West Bank territory by Israeli settlers\nconstitutes a violation of international law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the UN Security Council meeting on 18 February, Indonesia\u2019s\nForeign Minister condemned the annexation in the West Bank as a form of\nviolation of international law, particularly UN Security Council\nResolution 2334,\u201d said Foreign Ministry spokesman Yvonne Elizabeth\nMewengkang during a press conference at the Foreign Ministry office in\nPejambon, Central Jakarta, on Friday (27 February 2026).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no change in Indonesia\u2019s position in this context.\nIndonesia continues to regard the expansion of settlements as a\nviolation of international law and relevant UN resolutions,\u201d Mewengkang\nadded.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia\u2019s current position on the UN Security Council is intended\nto maximise efforts towards realising peace in Palestine.<\/p>\n<p>According to news agency Wafa, on Monday (23 February 2026),\nattackers vandalised the walls of the Abu Bakr as-Siddiq Mosque with\nracial inscriptions. Israeli settlers damaged and set fire to the mosque\nin the West Bank during the Ramadhan month.<\/p>\n<p>The mosque is located between the towns of Sarra and Tal, near Nablus\nin the northern West Bank. Israeli settlers even spray-painted graffiti\nwith insults directed at Prophet Muhammad on the mosque\u2019s walls.<\/p>\n<p>Israel has claimed that its occupation of the West Bank is an\nacceptable course of action.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia\u2019s Foreign Ministry has condemned a statement made by the US\nAmbassador to Israel. The Foreign Ministry issued this condemnation\nthrough a joint statement released with the foreign ministries of Egypt,\nJordan, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar,\nKuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Lebanon, Syria and Palestine, as well as the\nOrganisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) secretariat, the Arab League\n(LNA), and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cExpressing strong condemnation and deep concern over the statement\nby the United States Ambassador to Israel, which indicates that Israeli\nactions to take over territories belonging to Arab states, including the\noccupied West Bank, are acceptable,\u201d the joint statement read.<\/p>",
