Batam (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Investment and
Downstreaming/Deputy Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM)
Todotua Pasaribu inaugurated Indonesia’s first eco-friendly solder
factory, located in the Tunas Industrial Estate in Batam, Riau
Islands.

“This factory is not merely an investment realisation, but also a
form of commitment to downstreaming. We are not only talking about
investment volume, but added value. Of the 28 commodities we are
promoting for downstreaming, tin is one of the most strategic,” said
Todotua in Batam on Thursday.

The factory is managed by PT Solder Tin Andalan Indonesia (STANIA), a
subsidiary of Arsari Tambang, built on a 6,500-square-metre site with
capacity to produce up to 2,000 tonnes of solder bar per year. In the
long term, production capacity is targeted to increase to 16,000 tonnes
per year, encompassing solder wire, powder and paste, with projected
revenue reaching Rp1 trillion.

Arsari Tambang President Commissioner Hashim S Djojohadikusumo said
that one production line currently employs 80 workers. “This is just one
line for leaded and lead-free solder. If demand increases, we will
expand to four lines,” he said.

The factory also prioritises sustainability principles. All
operations use PLN’s renewable energy certified with Renewable Energy
Certificates (REC), making it an emission-free production facility. The
building design is also engineered for efficiency, maximising natural
lighting to reduce electricity consumption.

“Through the use of environmentally friendly technology and strategic
collaboration, we want to prove that the mining industry can also be a
pioneer of sustainability,” said Arsari Tambang President Director Aryo
Djojohadikusumo.

On the supply chain front, STANIA has signed a Head of Agreement
(HoA) with PT Freeport Indonesia for the procurement of lead and silver,
two strategic materials in high-quality solder production. Additionally,
the company has established a partnership with Volex, a global
connectivity solutions provider, for the export of solder products to
international markets.

Riau Islands Governor Ansar Ahmad expressed his appreciation for the
factory’s presence as a tangible form of economic value addition and job
creation in his region. “The Riau Islands provincial government is ready
to support every investment that brings significant benefits to the
community, particularly those within strategic zones,” he said.
",
