        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia\u2019s carbon trading economic value could\nreach around Rp5 trillion (approximately US$277.7 million) if managed\nproperly, accountably, transparently, and with the public interest at\nits core, Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni said here on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Antoni explained the carbon trading scheme follows directives from\nIndonesia\u2019s President Prabowo Subianto, who has positioned public\nwelfare as the primary focus of development.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor this initial phase, there are already four carbon projects,\nconsisting of three with Forest Utilization Business Permits (PBPH) and\none social forestry project,\u201d he said at the handover event of the\nMinister of Forestry\u2019s approval for the carbon project and the\ninauguration of Indonesia\u2019s Forestry Carbon Centre.<\/p>\n<p>Antoni added the projects have the potential to prevent around 30\nmillion tons of CO2 equivalent in greenhouse gas emissions.<\/p>\n<p>Related news: Indonesia aims to end open dumping by 2028:\nMinister<\/p>\n<p>He said the potential Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) generated from the\nthree projects, spanning an area of about 225,000 hectares, could reach\naround Rp500 billion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd that is just from four areas. We have a potential area of around\n12.7 million hectares for carbon trading. If that can be utilised,\nIndonesia has a massive opportunity to develop its carbon economy,\u201d the\nminister said.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasised that Indonesia\u2019s carbon economic potential can only be\nmaximised through good forest governance that is transparent,\naccountable, and free from corruption and manipulation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn such governance, Indonesia\u2019s forests can become greener while\nserving as a new source of economic growth.
