        "content": "<p>Indonesians watch Diana's funeral<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Millions of Indonesians joined the world<br>\nyesterday afternoon to watch the funeral of Diana, Princess of<br>\nWales.<\/p>\n<p>The event was broadcast live by state television TVRI as well<br>\nas four of the five private television networks in the country.<br>\nTPI did not broadcast the funeral, but was scheduled to air a<br>\nthree-hour special report on Diana today.<\/p>\n<p>Many people stayed at home to tune in the live television<br>\nbroadcast of Diana's funeral. Among viewers were residents of<br>\nslum areas.<\/p>\n<p>\"I don't really know who she was. But every day there have<br>\nbeen reports about her. I am curious,\" said a housewife who lives<br>\nin a slum in Penjaringan, North Jakarta. Her house was packed<br>\nwith \"curious\" neighbors who did not own TV sets.<\/p>\n<p>Sri, a resident of Pondok Cabe, South Jakarta, said she<br>\nwatched coverage of the event two hours before the funeral even<br>\nstarted.<\/p>\n<p>\"She had charisma,\" she said.<\/p>\n<p>Traffic in the city was as busy as usual, but shopping centers<br>\nwere deserted.<\/p>\n<p>\"I'm surprised that there have been very few visitors visiting<br>\nthe mall during this weekend day,\" said Christine, a cashier of<br>\nHero supermarket at Citra Mal, West Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>The few mall visitors chose to waste their time in front of<br>\ntelevision sets at restaurants or food courts.<\/p>\n<p>A similar situation also occurred at Plaza Indonesia shopping<br>\ncenter, Central Jakarta, and Lippo Supermal in Tangerang.<\/p>\n<p>The All Saints Anglican Church in Central Jakarta held a<br>\nmemorial service for Diana. Among those attending was British<br>\nambassador to Indonesia, Robin Christopher.<\/p>\n<p>In Yogyakarta, a cafe held a Diana look-alike contest last<br>\nnight. A book of condolence was also available for those at the<br>\ncafe to sign. The organizer said the book would be sent to the<br>\nBritish Embassy in Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>Artists in Bandung also expressed their appreciation of the<br>\nprincess by organizing a Diana painting contest, scheduled to<br>\ntake place today.<\/p>\n<p>Two Jakarta-based composers Ragil Sugiono and Eddy Soesanto<br>\ncomposed a song, titled Princess Diana (Putri Diana), in English<br>\nand Indonesian in honor of the princess, Antara reported.<\/p>\n<p>They said they have given the song to the British Embassy here<br>\nwhich promised to send it to England and publish it.<br>\n(04\/ste\/bsr\/swa\/sim)<\/p>",
