        "content": "<p>Jakarta \u2013 Indonesia\u2019s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has urged Indonesian\ncitizens to postpone plans to depart for the Holy Land for umrah\npilgrimage in the near term. This advisory has emerged amid a tense\nsituation in the Middle East following US-Israeli military strikes\nagainst Iran.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah (Wamenhaj) Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak\naffirmed that the advisory represents a precautionary measure by the\ngovernment to ensure the safety of its citizens.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cConsidering the uncertain conditions in the Middle East and the\nescalating tensions, we advise umrah pilgrims planning to depart in the\nnear term to postpone their departure,\u201d said the deputy minister in\nJakarta on Sunday, 1 March.<\/p>\n<p>The government has also requested umrah pilgrims currently in Saudi\nArabia and their families in Indonesia to remain calm and not panic.<\/p>\n<p>According to data from the Computerised System for Managing Umrah and\nSpecial Hajj (SISKOPATUH), 58,873 Indonesian umrah pilgrims are\ncurrently in Saudi Arabia. Escalating conflict in the Middle East places\nthem at risk of being unable to return home soon due to numerous flight\ncancellations.<\/p>\n<p>As reported, America, together with Israel, attacked Iran on\nSaturday, 28 February, killing the country\u2019s supreme leader, Ayatollah\nKhamenei. Iran subsequently retaliated, striking not only Israel but\nalso countries hosting US military bases, including the United Arab\nEmirates, Bahrain, and Qatar.<\/p>\n<p>The critical situation resulting from military strikes in the Middle\nEast has prompted numerous airlines to cancel flights to the region.<\/p>\n<p>Among airlines announcing flight suspensions to Middle East\ndestinations are Aegean Airlines, Air Algerie, Air France, Air India,\nBritish Airways, Cathay Pacific, Etihad, Emirates, Finnair, Iberia,\nIndiGo, Japan Airlines, KLM, Lufthansa, Norwegian, Oman Air, Pakistan\nInternational Airlines, Qatar Airways, Scandinavian Airlines, Swiss\nInternational Air Lines, Turkish Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, and Wizz\nAir.<\/p>",
