'Indonesians live in asylum'<\/p>\n
KUPANG, East Nusa Tenggara: Disillusioned by the rampant
\ncorruption in Indonesia, a legal expert has likened the country
\nto an asylum.<\/p>\n
\"Without intending to pour scorn on the country, I say it is
\nlike an asylum which houses people who are mad about corruption,
\ncollusion and nepotism, positions and power,\" J.E. Sahetapy, the
\nchairman of the National Legal Commission, said during a seminar
\non the legislative elections here on Saturday.<\/p>\n
In his presentation, Sahetapy, who is also a legislator from
\nthe Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan),
\nsaid many people here had lost their common sense.<\/p>\n
There are also people who suffer from depression because they
\ncan not stand the crime and corruption in the country, he said.<\/p>\n
Sahepaty was presenting a paper titled Political morals and
\netiquette during the national seminar, which was organized by the
\nAssociation of Indonesian Christian Intellectuals and the Women's
