Indonesians in UK go to the polls<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Indonesian citizens in the Great Britain town of
\nGlasgow voted Saturday, five days ahead of schedule for
\nadministrative reasons, a press report said yesterday.<\/p>\n
Spokesman for the Indonesian embassy in London, Haris Nugroho,
\nsaid ballot papers had to be pooled in London by mail, Antara
\nreported.<\/p>\n
He said Indonesian citizens in other towns in Great Britain
\nhad also cast their ballots ahead of schedule.<\/p>\n
\"The decision has been taken merely to facilitate
\nadministrative works,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Indonesians received their ballot papers a week ago and are
\nrequested to send them back to the embassy before June 2.<\/p>\n
About 140 Indonesians in Glasgow cast their ballots at 7:30
\np.m. Saturday at Carrick Hotel, where Indonesian badminton
\nplayers in the Sudirman Cup tournament were staying.<\/p>\n
\"We came here as couriers, the election results can usually be
\nsent to our office in London,\" Haris said.<\/p>\n
\"Elections are implemented here through the mail as it is
\ndifficult to reach Indonesians in much of the United Kingdom,
\nwhich is quite large,\" he said. All votes will be counted on May
