Indonesian wrestlers pin down golds<\/p>\n

JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia's wrestlers have a slight edge over
\nVietnam as action on the mat concludes today.<\/p>\n
Host wrestlers stayed atop the medal table after the third day
\nof freestyle wrestling yesterday, adding three golds, one silver
\nand one bronze for a total of seven golds, six silvers and two
\nbronzes.<\/p>\n
Breathing down Indonesia's neck is Vietnam with seven golds,
\nthree silvers and four bronzes, followed by the Philippines with
\none gold, four silvers and eight bronzes.<\/p>\n
An Indonesian coach, Lowedyk, said he was satisfied with the
\nteam's overall performance yesterday.<\/p>\n
\"We were expecting to get golds. We projected three golds and
\nwe got them,\" he said.<\/p>\n
\"For Saturday, we are targeting between three and four golds.
\nBut, we'll have to be very careful because our strongest rival,
\nVietnam, will also do their best to seize the golds.\"<\/p>\n
Three of the five Indonesian wrestlers competing yesterday --
\nSuryadi Gunawan, Andri Fahruriadi and Dialex Sinaga -- won the
\ngolds in the 54 kg, 63 kg and 97 kg divisions.<\/p>\n
Two other Indonesians, Dedi Damhudi and Sukahar, got silver
\nand bronze in 48 kg and 76 kg.<\/p>\n
Dedi was considered to have a good chance of defeating
\nVietnam's Tran Van Son. He lost by seven points, although he
\nmissed several opportunities to gain extra points.<\/p>\n
Lowedyk said Dedi's had been unable to stay with Tran during
\nthe five-minute bout due to poor stamina.<\/p>\n
In the popular 54 kg division, Supriyadi defeated Vietnam's
\nDoi Dang Hy after throwing his opponent approximately halfway
\nthrough the bout.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Andri collected his gold in a grueling fight
\nagainst Vietnam's Nguyen Hu Dinh.<\/p>\n
Andri was given two parterre sanctions for excessive passivity
\nduring the bout.<\/p>\n
He handled the difficult situation by producing impressive
\nrollovers from the kneeling position to turn the tables on the
\nVietnamese. Andri won 4-1.<\/p>\n
Compatriot Sinaga was involved in a highly aggressive bout
\nagainst Philippine Alex Valdez in the last matchup of the night.<\/p>\n
Sinaga, who was warned by the referee for throwing his
\nopponent to the side, collected his points gradually to produce
\nfour one-point and one three-point. Valdez produced a single one-
\npoint in the 1-8 loss.<\/p>",
