Indonesian water engineers to study in India<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Nineteen engineers of the Ministry of Public
\nWorks, are scheduled to leave today for India to study for
\nmasters degrees in the field of water resources development and
\nwater use management.<\/p>\n
Their studies, at the University of Roorkee, are financed by a
\nscholarship program from the government of India.<\/p>\n
The 19 engineers, all staff of the Directorate General of
\nWater Resources Development, bade their farewell on Tuesday
\nduring a party attended by Assistant of the Director General
\nMohammad Hardjono and First Secretary of the Indian Embassy B.
\nGhosh.<\/p>\n
A total of 550 Indonesians have studied under the scholarship
\nprograms from the Indian government since 1972, many of them
\nstudying at the University of Roorkee which specializes in water
\nresources management and other fields such as standardization,
\ncomputer hardware and software, insurance and financial
\nmanagement, banking and finance and rural development.<\/p>\n
The scholarship program which comes under the Indian Technical
\nand Economic Cooperation was first launched in 1964 as a move to
\nexchange technical knowledge among developing countries. (pwn)<\/p>",
