        "content": "<p>A video went viral showing a foreign woman causing a disturbance in\nGili Trawangan hamlet, North Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), after\nbeing disturbed by the sound of Quran recitation (tadarus) on the first\nnight of Ramadan. MUI Secretary-General Amirsyah Tambunan urged all\nparties to exercise restraint and prioritise mutual respect.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll parties must exercise restraint, especially those who are\nfasting. Those in the surrounding community should also hold back and\nnot become emotional or lash out, as matters can be conveyed in a wise\nand prudent manner,\u201d Amirsyah told reporters on Saturday\n(21\/2\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>He emphasised the importance of maintaining a conducive atmosphere\nduring Ramadan. He added that communities conducting Quran recitation\nsessions also need to maintain solemnity and orderliness to foster a\nsense of security and fellowship.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeautiful, melodious and serene voices are needed for Islamic\noutreach during the month of Ramadan, which is full of mercy,\nforgiveness and blessings from Allah SWT,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Amirsyah also underscored the importance of tolerance in community\nlife. He further expressed hope that foreign nationals visiting as\nguests would understand local customs and wisdom.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo there must be mutual tolerance (tasamuh),\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cForeign visitors, as guests, must understand local customs and\nwisdom,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>In the viral video, the foreign woman was seen shouting in front of a\nprayer hall whilst residents were reciting the Quran using a\nloudspeaker. Head of Gili Trawangan hamlet, Muhammad Husni, said the\nwoman felt disturbed by the sound of the recitation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat she took issue with was the recitation activity, because she\nwas disturbed by the speaker sound,\u201d he said on Thursday (19\/2).<\/p>\n<p>According to Husni, the woman then entered the prayer hall to stop\nresidents\u2019 activities. She even damaged the microphone being used for\nthe recitation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe came to the prayer hall, then immediately started raging and\ndamaged the microphone and everything else,\u201d he said.<\/p>",
