It is a tendency today for television stations in Indonesia to
\nremake foreign programs -- Indonesian Idol, Akademi Fantasi,
\nModel Indonesia are examples. These programs bring in a lot of
\nmoney for the television stations but they may have an adverse
\neffect on viewers because they encourage hedonism.<\/p>\n
It is against many religions to see men and women kissing in
\npublic or to watch women donning miniskirts. Where is our
\nOriental culture, which is characterized by moral decency and
\nhonesty?<\/p>\n
Television stations should refrain from introducing programs
\nfull of hedonistic content. The TV ratings for such programs may
\nbe high but it does not necessarily mean the majority of
\nIndonesians approve of them.<\/p>\n
Indonesians, most of whom are Muslims, are civilized people
\nthat uphold ethics and morality. They are not liberals like in
\nthe West.<\/p>\n
