        "content": "<p>A group of Indonesian students pursuing education in the United\nStates (US) has developed a free artificial intelligence (AI) learning\nplatform called the Nusantara AI Institute. The platform was created to\nexpand AI literacy in Indonesia, which is considered unevenly\ndistributed.<\/p>\n<p>The website-based platform was developed by Indonesian students at\nvarious US campuses, including Oliver Tedja from Boston University along\nwith Johannes Simanjuntak and others.<\/p>\n<p>They provide various free AI courses accessible to anyone with an\ninternet connection, without restrictions on location, economic\nbackground, or education level.<\/p>\n<p>Oliver stated that the development of the Nusantara AI Institute aims\nto build an Indonesian digital talent ecosystem that is better prepared\nto face AI technological advancements.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThrough practical and easily accessible educational programmes, we\nwant Indonesian society to be able to understand, utilise, and develop\nAI technology responsibly,\u201d said Oliver in his statement on Thursday\n(7\/5\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>He added that the platform is also part of the Indonesian diaspora\u2019s\nefforts to contribute to human resource development in the homeland,\nparticularly in the technology sector.<\/p>\n<p>The Nusantara AI Institute was officially launched on 27 March 2026\nthrough a dialogue forum at the Indonesian Consulate General in New\nYork. The event was attended by the Indonesian Consul General in New\nYork, Winanto Adi, former Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy\nSandiaga Uno, USINDO Society President David Merril, and former US\nAmbassador to Indonesia Robert Blake.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, the Nusantara AI Institute platform offers more than 20\ncourses related to artificial intelligence. The materials cover basic AI\nintroductions, AI for business, to machine learning techniques and\nprompt engineering.<\/p>\n<p>The AI for business programme focuses on utilising AI for job\nautomation and improving operational efficiency. Meanwhile, the\ntechnical AI materials are aimed at participants who want to understand\nAI technology systems in greater depth.<\/p>\n<p>To date, the number of users of the platform, accessible via naii.co,\nis said to have exceeded 1,000, with the majority from Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>The platform\u2019s development also received support from Aether AI, a\nventure studio and venture capital-based company focused on developing\nAI products and startups.<\/p>\n<p>During the platform\u2019s launch, Sandiaga Uno stated that AI literacy\nwill become a basic skill needed in the future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the future, AI literacy will be a fundamental skill as important\nas reading or writing,\u201d said Sandiaga.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Robert Blake assessed that mastering AI will be an\nimportant factor in the workforce, including in the health and education\nsectors.
