Indonesian student found dead in S'pore<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): A 19-year-old Indonesian student was found dead
\nTuesday morning in a park in Woodlands, a new residential area in
\nSingapore.<\/p>\n
An official at the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore said
\nyesterday that evidence suggested that the deceased, Dini
\nHaryati, had been raped and severely abused.<\/p>\n
The autopsy and postmortem examination conducted by Singapore
\nGeneral Hospital indicated that the back of the victim's skull
\nwas broken, and that she had been raped, Antara quoted embassy
\nofficial Priyono as saying.<\/p>\n
He said Dini was a student from Bandung Tourism College in
\nWest Java. She was on the island state for a five-month
\ninternship program at Albert Court hotel.<\/p>\n
She was scheduled to complete her internship program at the
\nend of this month.<\/p>\n
Priyono said Dini's parents, one of whom is a director of
\nstate-owned Bukopin Bank, had reportedly arrived in Singapore to
\ncollect the body which is due to be flown back today.<\/p>\n
Citing statements from Dini's roommate, Priyono said Dini had
\nnot returned to her flat in Woodlands since Sunday.<\/p>\n
Her friends believed she had spent the night at a friend's
\nresidence, something which they said Dini often did.<\/p>\n
Separately, a news report in Singapore yesterday reported that
\nthe body of a semi-naked woman had been found in the bushes near
\nthe Woodlands underground station.<\/p>\n
Bruises were found on the dead woman's neck, forehead and
