Indonesian shooters on target again<\/p>\n

JAKARTA (JP): She had been poker-faced throughout the
\ncompetition, but markswoman Herce Meiske Tumbuan let tears of joy
\nflow after winning the gold in running target shooting yesterday.<\/p>\n
Her score of 412.2 points edged red-hot favorite Hoang Thi Nga
\nof Vietnam (410.3). Tan Pilar of the Philippines won bronze with
\n162.6.<\/p>\n
"I can't help crying, the match was so tense and my rivals
\nwere very good in the qualification round," Herce sobbed.<\/p>\n
Her victory was all the more remarkable as she only took up
\nshooting last year.<\/p>\n
Hoang topped the list of eight qualifiers. But the Indonesian
\nnewcomer turned the tables in the final, hitting bull's-eye in
\nnearly all of her 10 shots.<\/p>\n
Herce joined with Hasmawarni and Puji Lestari to win the team
\nevent. Vietnam and the Philippines were second and third.<\/p>\n
"We're very satisfied with today's results because the two
\ngolds helped us meet the target of winning five golds set by the
\nNational Sports Council," said Indonesian shooting team manager,
\nSita Dewi Razni.<\/p>\n
Even more is expected of the team as competition continues
\nthrough Oct. 19.<\/p>\n
Indonesia garnered two golds, three silvers and three bronzes
\nin the 18th SEA Games in Chiang Mai, Thailand.<\/p>\n
The host team, with a haul of five golds, two silvers and five
\nbronzes, is second to Thailand -- six golds and four silvers --
\nin the shooting standings in these Games.<\/p>\n
In the women's individual and team air rifle, Thai shooters
\nbroke SEA Games records for the top honors.<\/p>\n
In the individual competition, shooter Kerdsumran Nuanwan
\nscored 496.8 to better compatriot Pupiromchaikul T.'s record of
\n493.4.<\/p>\n
Second was Dang Thi Dong of Vietnam (489.9), with Thai
\nDangpiam Jarintorn (486.8) in third.<\/p>\n
In the team event, Thailand (1,163) beat Vietnam (1,150) for
\ngold. Indonesian's Aurora Maris, Yuniarti Ilyas and Inca Ferry W.
\nshot their way to third with 1,147.<\/p>\n
But Indonesia came up empty-handed in the men's individual and
\nteam 25-m standard pistol.<\/p>\n
In the individual, Thailand's Arayavongkul Sumeth won with
\n569, Vietnam's Pham Cao Son grabbed silver (567) and bronze went
\nto Myanmar's Myint Soe (557).<\/p>\n
In the team event, Vietnam won gold with 1,681 while silver
\nwent to Thailand (1,669) and bronze to Myanmar.<\/p>",
