        "content": "<p>Jakarta \u2014 The Directorate of Special Crimes (Dittipidter) of the\nIndonesian National Police\u2019s Criminal Investigation Division\n(Bareskrim), in coordination with the Bombana Police Resort, has\nsuccessfully dismantled illegal gold mining and antimony mineral\nextraction sites in Bombana, South Sulawesi.<\/p>\n<p>Senior Assistant of Dittipidter Bareskrim Polri, Police Commissioner\nSardo Sibarani, stated in Jakarta on Monday that the operation was\nconducted on Friday, 6 March, as part of the investigation stage.<\/p>\n<p>For the first site, investigators visited an illegal gold mining\noperation in Wumbubangka Village, Rarowatu Sub-district, Bombana\nRegency. \u201cThe operation allegedly took place within the Mining Business\nLicence (IUP) area of PT AABI\/PLM,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>From this location, authorities confiscated equipment used for\nillegal mining operations, including a Dongfeng diesel engine and two\nwater-pumping machines, along with materials. Additionally, four\nwitnesses were secured and interrogated for further investigation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInvestigators are developing leads, with evidence suggesting that\nthe operation was managed by an individual identified as N,\u201d Sibarani\nadded.<\/p>\n<p>On the same day, investigators also secured a warehouse storing\nantimony ore allegedly sourced from illegal mining operations in\nLameroro Village, Rumbia Sub-district, Bombana Regency. Approximately 20\ntonnes of antimony ore stored in sacks were recovered from the\nlocation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe antimony ore could not be traced to a legitimate source,\u201d he\nstated.<\/p>\n<p>Four individuals were apprehended from the warehouse. For the next\nphase, investigators will interrogate witnesses to develop the case\nfurther.<\/p>\n<p>Sibarani indicated that the suspects in this case will face charges\nunder Article 158 of the Mining Law regarding unlicensed mining\noperations and Article 161 of the Mining Law, with potential sentences\nof 5 years imprisonment and fines of up to 100 billion rupiah.<\/p>",
