A Cassa aircraft belonging to the Indonesian Navy that skidded off\nthe runway at Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport in Maros Regency,\nSouth Sulawesi, is believed to have been landing at the time.<\/p>\n
PGS Branch Communication & CSR Department Head of PT Angkasa Pura\nIndonesia for Sultan Hasanuddin Airport, Taufan Yudhistira, said the\nincident began when his office received a report from Air Traffic\nControl (ATC) regarding the Navy Cassa aircraft skidding on runway 03-21\nwhile landing and ultimately veering off course.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs soon as the tower informed airport personnel, they went directly\nto the scene and immediately carried out handling,\u201d Taufan told\nreporters on Tuesday (25\/8).<\/p>\n
Taufan explained that the Cassa aircraft skidded on a different\nrunway from the Sukhoi SU-30 MK2 incident on Monday (24\/8).<\/p>\n
Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport has two runway alignments:\nNorth-South, or Runway 03-21, and East-West, or Runway 13-31.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo yesterday\u2019s incident was on a different runway. Yesterday\u2019s\nincident was on Runway 13-31, and today\u2019s was on Runway 03-21,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Nevertheless, Taufan said the incident did not result in any injuries\nor fatalities. All crew members were confirmed to be safe.<\/p>\n
\u201cBased on information we received from the field, there were no\nfatalities or injuries. All passengers have been evacuated by personnel\nand handed over to the relevant entities,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
Taufan said flights at Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport were\nnot disrupted following the incident.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll runways are operating normally for flights. Airport operations\nare also normal. Everything is normal,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
