        "content": "<p>JAKARTA \u2013 The Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Jeddah,\nYusron B. Ambary, has confirmed that 19 Indonesian citizens are\ncurrently being secured by Saudi Arabian security forces over suspicions\nof violating laws during the 2026 Hajj season.<\/p>\n<p>Yusron detailed that the violations include promoting illegal Hajj\nservices, practising the sale of dam (fines) not in accordance with\nregulations, and documenting or photographing local Saudi women without\npermission.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe KJRI, through the Pilgrim Protection Team, has visited the\npolice station. Currently, 15 people are being examined in the Khororoh\narea and another four are in Al-Mansyur,\u201d Yusron stated in his remarks\non Friday (15\/5\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoth are involved in different cases, namely suspicions of recording\nSaudi women in Masjid Nabawi and one other related to dam sales,\u201d he\nadded.<\/p>\n<p>Specifically for pilgrims caught in the unauthorised video case,\nYusron assured that the individual is still permitted to continue their\nHajj pilgrimage rites while awaiting legal developments.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor now, he is indeed still released and may continue performing his\nHajj. The KJRI will continue to monitor whether there will be any\nspecial claims from the woman who was filmed,\u201d said Yusron.<\/p>\n<p>In the Saudi Arabian legal system, there is a distinction between\ngeneral criminal and special criminal offences.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf there is no special claim, the individual can return to the\nhomeland on the scheduled departure. But if there is a claim from the\nvictim, the legal process continues,\u201d he emphasised.<\/p>\n<p>Yusron stressed that the KJRI has spoken directly with the accused to\nensure they receive their rights.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that the status of these 19 Indonesian citizens is currently\nas accused, not suspects.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSecurity forces have five days to gather evidence. If not complete,\nthe detention period can be extended up to 20 days,\u201d Yusron\nconcluded.<\/p>",
