They can shop for many souvenirs for their\nfamilies and so forth,\u2019 said Deputy for Marketing at the Ministry of\nTourism, Ni Made Ayu Marthini, in Jakarta on Friday. Based on the\nministry\u2019s monitoring, Made noted a fairly positive trend of increasing\nvisits from tourists from several countries to Indonesia, for example\nfrom South Korea, China, Singapore, and Malaysia. Made said tourists\nfrom Singapore and Malaysia enjoy visiting because they see Indonesia as\na worthy destination to spend money. Malaysian tourists like to spend\nmoney shopping for souvenirs for their families in Jakarta, Bandung,\nBali, Bintan, and Batam in the Riau Islands. \u2018Because they do not have\nmountains, and it is the same in China, there are no tropical mountains\nlike ours. So that also adds to our tourism value. That is why Bromo and\nIjen have become famous for the Chinese market segment,\u2019 she said.\nChinese tourists, she added, are also beginning to visit Manado, North\nSulawesi, more frequently now that a direct flight route between Manado\nand Guangzhou has been opened. Visits are also predicted to increase due\nto tourists\u2019 fondness for seafood cuisine and marine scenery. Other\ncities considered popular with tourists, according to Made, are Labuan\nBajo, Lombok, and the Gili Islands.
