Four Indonesian boxers advanced to the semifinals in the 20th
\nPresident's Cup here on Monday.<\/p>\n
Light-flyweight hopeful Destesa Moniaga defeated Imran Hafeeq
\nof Pakistan 19-13, while Dadan Amanda brushed aside MDK
\nWanniarachchi of Sri Lanka 24-15 in the featherweight match.<\/p>\n
Another Indonesian featherweight fighter, Daud Yordan, totally
\ndominated Nguyen Kien Cuong of Vietnam to take his match 22-6.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, welterweight contender Mifta Rivai Lubis scored a
\n20-10 victory over Vietnamese fighter Du Duc Thanh.<\/p>\n
However, the Indonesians will face a tough task ahead with
\nSouth Korean boxers their next opponents.<\/p>\n
Destesa will take on Hong Moo-won, while Dadan and Mifta are
\nup against Seo Dong-sik and Ha Jung-kwen, respectively and Daud
\nwill try to tackle Murat Airmassov of Kazakhstan.<\/p>\n
The only Indonesian boxer who couldn't do the job was Rionando
\nButar Butar.<\/p>\n
Despite the full support from a home crowd at the Tumenggung
\nJamal Sports Hall, Rionando, Indonesia's silver medalist at the
\n2003 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, crashed out to Godfrey Castro
\nof the Philippines 28-20.<\/p>\n
Other boxers through to the semifinals were Japanese fighters
\nToshiyoki Igarashi and Satoshi Osono; and Ayatullah of Pakistan.<\/p>\n
Indonesian team manager and boxing commentator Syamsul Anwar
\nHarahap said the Indonesian boxers showed less boxing quality
\ntoday than their forerunners.<\/p>\n
\"In the past, they rose to boxing stage because they wanted to
\nmake it their pastime. Their talent helped make them strong
\nboxers. Today's boxers seem to lack motivation,\" Syamsul said.<\/p>\n
Indonesia has five boxers in Tuesday's matches who will take
\nanother shot at the semifinals.<\/p>\n
They are Erico Amanupunyo, David Isikawar, Darman Hutahuruk,
\nAtris Neolaka and Toar Sompotan.<\/p>",
