        "content": "<p>Indonesian artists bound for Perth, S'pore<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Indonesian painters will be taking part in two<br>\nmajor exhibitions in Singapore and Perth, Australia, in another<br>\nsign that Indonesia's art is going global.<\/p>\n<p>Five painters grouped in Indonesia Lima will exhibit their<br>\nworks in Perth, West Australia, from Aug. 20 through Aug. 24.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition, to take place at the Burswood Resort Hotel, is<br>\nto coincide with the opening of the Indonesian Consulate in<br>\nPerth.<\/p>\n<p>The show called Gelar Rekam Alam (Nature on Canvas) will<br>\ndisplay around 50 works by artists P. Lanny Andriani, Syaukat<br>\nBanjaransari, Trip D. Sasomo, Idran Yusuf and Sri Hadhy.<\/p>\n<p>Scheduled to be opened by Indonesian Consul Harijono Suprapto,<br>\nthe event is intended to promote Indonesian art in Australia.<\/p>\n<p>\"I am looking forward to introducing our creations to<br>\nAustralian art lovers. I really hope that we can organize a<br>\nspecial festival on Indonesia in Australia,\" Syaukat said<br>\nyesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The Australian government and the private sector recently held<br>\n\"Australia Today Indonesia '94\" in Jakarta and other big cities,<br>\nincluding Semarang, Central Java, and Surabaya, East Java, in an<br>\neffort to strengthen economic and social ties between Australia<br>\nand Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>In Singapore, two young Indonesian students will take part at<br>\nan international painting exhibition, the Swatch Emotion,<br>\nstarting today and lasting until Aug. 6.<\/p>\n<p>The artists are Azeta -- a student from the SMA 4 high school<br>\nin Bandung, and Denon, a student of architecture at Trisakti<br>\nUniversity in Jakarta. They will display their \"street paintings\"<br>\nwhich were declared winners of a street painting competition<br>\nearly this month.<\/p>\n<p>This is the first time a Swatch Emotion exhibition has been<br>\nheld in Asia.
