Indonesian arrested in Bangkok<\/p>\n
Thailand Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra (right) inspects a

The prime minister confronted three suspected heroin
\ntraffickers, including the two suspects, on Friday as they were
\nparaded before the media.<\/p>\n
"Do you know we have capital punishment in Thailand?" Prime
\nMinister Thaksin Shinawatra asked Singaporean suspect Fah Weng
\nLan. Fah, 35, did not respond.<\/p>\n
Police seized the 140 kilograms heroin in two raids in Bangkok
\non Thursday.<\/p>\n
The drugs were worth an estimated US$33 million in the United
\nStates and Australia, where police believe the shipments were
\nheaded.<\/p>\n
Thaksin's presence at a news conference announcing the bust
\nwas apparently to emphasize the government's seriousness in
\ncombating drug trafficking, which it has declared public enemy
\nNo. 1.<\/p>\n
Thailand has executed about 40 drug traffickers since
\nThaksin's government took office in February 2001.<\/p>\n
Police say they found 105 kilograms (231 pounds) of heroin in
\nFah's house after information from the other two suspects,
\nIndonesian Oei, 54, and Direk, 27. The two were arrested in their
\napartment, where police said they confiscated 34.65 kilograms of
\nheroin.<\/p>\n
Police said they also found small amounts of the illicit drugs
\nmethamphetamine and ecstasy. -- AP<\/p>",
