Local military commands are conducting surveys based on community reports to identify damaged roofs, with renovations already underway on two houses in Pademangan. The initiative involves local cooperatives producing affordable tiles from local materials, with government support encouraged for widespread implementation across Indonesia to enhance comfort and environmental beauty.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Army (TNI AD) is targeting the
implementation of a roofing programme for 100 houses in the North
Jakarta area to ensure that residents live in safe and comfortable
homes. The construction of these houses is also part of TNI AD’s efforts
to carry out the gentengisasi programme initiated by President Prabowo
Subianto. Commander of Kodim 0502/North Jakarta, Colonel Inf. Mohammad
Syaifuddin Fanany, in Pademangan, North Jakarta, on Friday, stated that
they do not have a specific deadline to meet this target. “For the
target (timeframe) of gentengisasi, we will adjust accordingly. The
current process starts with surveys conducted by Babinsa at several
points in the area,” said Fanany. According to him, the survey
activities are carried out based on reports from the community regarding
residents’ roofs that need repair. After the survey, he said, Babinsa
will report the condition of the houses to Kodim for data collection
before renovation. “If the requirements are met, such as visible damage
and existing leaks, we will carry out the repairs,” said Fanany. He
conveyed that so far, they have repaired two houses in the Pademangan
area of North Jakarta, specifically the roof sections, which were
completed in four to five days. Fanany hopes that the number of
residents’ houses renovated will increase to successfully implement the
central government’s gentengisasi programme. When opening the National
Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) of Central and Regional Governments in
Sentul, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Monday, the President stated that
the use of corrugated iron roofs still dominates many houses in
Indonesia. According to him, this not only makes the environment look
less beautiful but also affects the comfort of the occupants because it
tends to be hot and prone to rusting. “I want all roofs in Indonesia to
use tiles. So this movement will be a movement, and the project is the
gentengisasi project for all of Indonesia,” said Prabowo on Monday
(2/2). The idea of this national gentengisasi project, said Prabowo,
will involve the Red and White Village/Sub-district Cooperatives (KDMP)
as the spearhead of production. The cooperatives will be equipped with
local-scale tile factories, where the equipment is relatively
affordable. In addition, the raw materials used are also easily obtained
because they come from soil that can be mixed with other materials to
make them lighter and stronger. “So, we will equip our Red and White
Cooperatives with tile factories. The raw material for tiles is soil,
mixed with some other waste substances, making them light and strong,”
he explained. The President emphasised that the gentengisasi programme
will receive government support, both before and after its
implementation. He also invited regional heads to participate in the
programme. “We will help you, before gentengisasi, after gentengisasi.
This is serious, regents, mayors, those who don’t want their cities to
be beautiful, that’s up to them. Those who do, come on, let’s make your
city beautiful together, make your district beautiful, make your village
beautiful,” stressed the President.
",
