        "content": "<p>US Trade Representative Ambassador Jamieson Greer said the landmark\nagreement removes trade barriers and advances the economic and national\nsecurity interests of the American people.<\/p>\n<p>He also expressed appreciation to Indonesia\u2019s Coordinating Minister\nfor Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, for his commitment to\nrebalancing the trade relationship between Indonesia and the United\nStates.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI look forward to close coordination and engagement with Indonesia\non the implementation of these high-standard commitments,\u201d Greer\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and US President Donald Trump\nsigned the Reciprocal Trade Agreement in Washington, DC, on February 19,\n2026.<\/p>\n<p>According to a White House fact sheet, the United States will\nmaintain a reciprocal tariff of 19 per cent on imports from Indonesia,\nexcept for certain products that will receive a reciprocal tariff of 0\nper cent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe United States committed to establishing a mechanism allowing\ncertain textile and apparel goods from Indonesia to receive a 0 per cent\nreciprocal tariff rate for a to-be-specified volume of apparel and\ntextile imports,\u201d the fact sheet said.<\/p>\n<p>The document stated that the volume would be determined based on the\nquantity of textile exports produced from US cotton and manufactured\nfibre textile raw materials sourced from the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia and the United States also reached an investment agreement\nworth approximately US$33 billion in the agriculture, aerospace, and\nenergy sectors in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement includes the purchase of approximately US$15 billion in\nUS energy commodities, the procurement of around US$13.5 billion in\ncommercial aircraft and aviation-related goods and services, including\nfrom Boeing, and the purchase of more than US$4.5 billion in US\nagricultural products.<\/p>\n<p>The fact sheet also stated that Freeport-McMoRan signed a memorandum\nof understanding with Indonesia to extend its mining permit and expand\noperations in the Grasberg mineral district in Mimika District, Central\nPapua.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis deal is expected to generate US$10 billion in annual revenue\nand will further strengthen US supply chains for critical minerals,\u201d the\nfact sheet said.<\/p>\n<p>The document further noted that Indonesia will eliminate tariff\nbarriers on more than 99 per cent of US products exported to Indonesia\nacross all sectors, including agricultural goods, health products,\nseafood, information and communication technology products, automotive\ngoods, and chemicals.<\/p>\n<p>According to the fact sheet, Indonesia is also committed to\neliminating digital trade barriers, including Harmonised Tariff Schedule\n(HTS) tariffs on intangible products, supporting an unconditional and\npermanent moratorium on customs duties on electronic transmissions at\nthe World Trade Organisation (WTO), and ensuring fair competition for US\nelectronic payment companies.<\/p>",
